Experience the Magic of Luca Ciarla’s “Mediterramìa” on Saturday 7th March 2026, 7:00 PM
We’re absolutely delighted to announce that internationally acclaimed Italian violinist Luca Ciarla will be performing his captivating show “Mediterramìa” at Central Stories Museum and Art Gallery!
Originally scheduled for October 2025, this much-anticipated performance was postponed due to illness. Now confirmed for March 2026, we’re thrilled to finally welcome Luca to Central Otago for his debut performance at Central Stories.
A Musical Journey Like No Other
Prepare to be mesmerized as Luca transforms our gallery into a Mediterranean soundscape using only his violin, voice, loop pedal, and an enchanting collection of toy instruments. This isn’t just a concert—it’s a musical adventure where Luca becomes a complete orchestra, playing his violin as a guitar, cello, and percussion instrument while layering sounds that evolve into his signature “solOrkestra.”
What to Expect
“Mediterramìa” weaves together beautiful arrangements of traditional Italian folk tunes, Mediterranean melodies, and original compositions. Watch in wonder as Luca sings, whistles, and improvises, creating a performance that’s both deeply rooted in tradition and refreshingly contemporary.
Italian critics have called it “a magical acoustic seduction where everybody can find familiar influences…from genuine folk to sophisticated jazz,” while Australian audiences have been captivated by his ability to “transcend boundaries among genres.”

Luca Ciarla has performed at some of the world’s most prestigious venues—from the Montreal Jazz Festival to the Hong Kong Performing Arts Centre, from Celtic Connections in Scotland to Melbourne Jazz Festival. Now, this internationally celebrated artist brings his unique artistry to Central Otago for the very first time.
