About the Exhibition

The Henderson Gallery will showcase the textile masterpieces of three iconic WoolOn past winners: Laurel Judd, Viv Tamblyn, and Daphne Randle. Each designer brings a distinctive voice and technique to the world of wool fashion, and together they represent the very best of what WoolOn celebrates: the connection between fibre, craft, and wearable art.

The Silent Auction

Running throughout the exhibition, a silent auction offers collectors a rare opportunity to own a piece of WoolOn history. Select works by all three designers will be available to bid on, with proceeds going to the WoolOn Charitable Society, and the designers themselves.

Meet the Designers

Laurel Judd — Napier A three-time WoolOn Supreme Winner, Laurel is known under her design label “Laurel Dzigna Knitz” for her avant-garde, technique-driven work. She has contributed twenty pieces to this exhibition. “Think outside the square,” she encourages potential bidders. “These are not necessarily to be worn. They can be a piece of art in a bedroom, on a mannequin, or hung on a wall.”

Viv Tamblyn A six-time WoolOn Supreme Winner, Viv is a self-taught recreational designer whose work is driven by a passion for 3D textures and sustainability. She uses only sustainable fabrics and 100% wool yarn, even for linings — a commitment to zero waste that runs through everything she creates.

Daphne Randle — Alexandra Alexandra’s own Daphne Randle is famed for her seamless garments and signature “Fernzwear” — a distinctive mitred, fern-shaped knitting technique. A multiple Supreme Award winner, Daphne views this exhibition as a celebration of local heritage and a show of pride in her home community.
