What has been going on behind the scenes in CORO’s enforced break?
Enthusiastic groups have come together to bring you a collection of music to entertain and delight at the end of a period where, while we have been enjoying playing our instruments individually, we have not performed in public. One of the groups is a trio from Wanaka the ACE Chamber Ensemble consisting of Allen Hogan, Norie Haynes and Brian Budd. The other group is a less traditional collection of players from Alexandra and Wanaka loosely based on quartets and quintets where players contribute required parts. An example of this is the use of a French horn to supplement the sound of some pieces. The number of players involved represents about a third of the complete Central Otago Regional Orchestra which as a whole group has been entertaining the wider Central Otago Region for more than three decades.
The players have been enjoying making music together again and are delighted to present a fresh programme of well-loved and lesser-known music for you to enjoy.
Reminiscent of our Chamber music concerts 18 months ago, we have put together a collection of music which covers a wide range of styles including Mozart, Vivaldi, Ravel, Haydn, Gardel and McMichael. Think Bolero, Baroque, Classical, Tango and Ceilidh – mix for over an hour and you have a concoction in which there is bound to be something to suit your taste. Springing back to life! with Central Otago’s Regional Orchestra.
